March 11th- Temples of South and East Asia: Discovering the Sublime in a Photo
Join Deborah Bowman in a search of the transcendent at temple sites in Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and China. Enjoy the draw of both famous and obscure sites at times of silence or among throngs at colorful festivals. Many of these temples are protected as Unesco World Heritage sites yet others may succumb to modernization in the years to come. Come now to enjoy a feast of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas or learn tips for great shots at exquisite gardens or inside darkened temples. Learn temple etiquette for sharing in practices of devotion or photographing people making homage. Deborah will sign copies of her books, The Luminous Buddha and The Female Buddha, showcasing many of these photos alongside inspirational quotes of teachers from around the world.
March 18th- The Dalmatian Coast-Slovenia and Croatia
Starting at Lake Bled, the crown jewel of Slovenia, join Jack and Lynne Rummel as they travel overland into Croatia and across to the Adriatic Sea, with a special side trip to the beautiful Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Europe's top natural wonders. At the seacoast, we'll board a 50-passenger ship for stops in the Croatian Islands and the historic walled city of Dubrovnik. Further stops include idyllic Montenegro and impoverished but historic Albania before reaching Greece, where we will visit Corfu, Delphi, and on to Athens via the amazing Corinth Canal. Truly a trip to remember!
March 25th-Nova Scotia: Sun, Sea, and Lobsters!
Come join Kay and Rob as we travel around fabulous Nova Scotia. From the famous Cabot Trail to the Unesco World Heritage town of Lunenburg, and from sipping wine at a vineyard to eating lobsters & scallops at a sea-side restaurant, Nova Scotia has it all.
We start by exploring Cape Breton Island including the spectacular views along the Cabot trail. We go for short hikes as well as a boat tour to see the puffins, eagles and other native birds. Next we experience the famous tides of Fundy bay, and the lush farmland and wonderful vineyards of the of the Annapolis valley. Finally we visit the quaint villages and towns on the south shore where we base out of the World Heritage town of Lunenburg.
